Cartoonists use shapes to give their characters a certain look: clever, grumpy, energetic, sneaky… What do each of these characters look like to you? What shapes are used to give them that look?
Look around your house for things that look like a character. Maybe you have a soap bottle that looks whiny and sad, with a long nose. Maybe the shape of your toothbrush makes it look surprised.

Now we are going to combine drawing from life with drawing from imagination! Draw the object you found as accurately as you can. Then add eyes, hair, teeth, glasses - anything you need to turn the item into a character! Make a whole family, or create characters for a story! Share your drawings with your family and friends (and art teachers). Color them if you would like.
