Paper Airplane Origami Challenge

What is Origami?

Origami is the art of folding paper into 3D forms. This art began in China, but was popularized in Japan.

Typically, a single sheet of square paper is folded into a sculpture without cutting, gluing, or taping. Most of the 3D forms were passed down from generation to generation. Your parents probably folded paper airplanes and have taught you!

There are TWO basic folds: mountain and valley. There are 3 airplane designs for you to make in this lesson. You can use newspaper, junk mail, magazine pages, or printer paper. Remember to fold carefully and cleanly so corners line up. Here is a good website for beginners: https://origami.me/beginners-guide This is a video about the world record holder paper airplane maker- John Collins:

Once you have made some planes, you can make it into a game! Ideas: what plane flies the highest or furthest? What plane is a “trick” plane and does loops in the air? Or, make a target” and try to fly your plane for points!
